Ownership & History
The Meynaud family owns Château Franc Couplet for several generation. The talented winemaker Eric Meynaud took over his father's vineyard in 1995, at the end of his studies in oenology, and since then, the estate has grown, from 10 to over 100 hectares. Eric is always trying to get the best out of his vineyard, and consequently his wines are top quality wines and win medals every vintage.
-
Vineyard & Location
Château Franc Couplet is located on a limestone with clay terroir in Entre-Deux-Mers area, at the far east side of the Bordeaux vineyard. The natural quality of the soil is excellent over there.
-
Harvest, vinification & ageing
After a carefully well-sorted harvest, the winemaker proceeds to a cold maceration in vats in order to softly extract the different components of the grapes, such as tannins or aromas. This will help to make a rounder and finer wine. A particularly long fermentation is favoured at this estate, giving a very deep colour and structure to the wine. Ageing is 50% in barrels and 50% in stainless steel
